Me too. Not just gimmicky, but kind of a mess. The movement section for mecha is all sorts of "oh my god, what?"

I've also run this game and while I love the atmosphere, artwork, mood and setting, I find that the framewerk system feels a mite gimmicky.

Pointyman2000s last blog post..Hero Spotlight #2: The Veteran

Having reviewed the game myself and played it extensively, I'd like to confirm that yes, you can indeed do Lovecraft horror here (or as I like to call it, "nailgrinding frustration gaming wherein none of your goals are accomplished because the DM wants you to die, as that's supposed to be scary") and it's rather easy to set up. There's even a whole "character class" (it's not a class system, but there are "Professions") that's about hanging around street level in urban areas with few resources and getting chewed on.

Also, unless you're using the designated munchkin mecha (you'll be able to point out which they are very easily – and yes, even the non-Engel mecha have tiers of power to suckitude), a Migou is more like a Dragon in D&D than an Orc. Though Migou mecha also have tiers of power to suckitude...
