		<description>Hmm, you&#039;ve got a point. Another idea could be that the jumpgate was covered in dust and rocks over the last millenia so it looked much like an asteroid. 
But perhaps I will just put it in orbit around Neptune or something. </description>

One suggestion: move the jump gate out to somewhere it&#039;s conceivable we&#039;ve missed seeing a huge object and around something that could conceivably have an object in orbit without it needing to be powered up and holding position...Phobos is dinky and you could throw a baseball hard enough to put it in orbit with a period of about an hour.  Let the gate&#039;s discovery hinge upon the space-ship technology unearthed on Mars allowing humans get out to, say, Jupiter or Neptune.
