As one of our readers pointed out in the comments to the original post, the book is 6x9 so 320 pages will be less content than the PHB which is an 8.5x11 at 320 pages.

Also the blurb does not specifically spell out that the Assassin will be available in full in this book, only that the book will support shadow classes including the Assassin. At this moment the latest we've heard from WotC is that the Assassin wouldn't even be supported by any non-DDI sources, so clearly that's been nixed already - I won't be surprised if the Assassin shows up in full in this book.

Oh also you missed the point about the book being a paperback and not a hardcover, which reduces the printing cost factor as well.

With the rate at which Wizards puts out these rule supplements (and the way they distribute information among them), I believe they are intentionally trying to kill the dead tree market for their products. You essentially have to have the digital library subscription to find anything or keep anything straight. So while it is nice that they finally have a set of rules for an assassin, the binding and price point of the book itself is meaningless to me.
