Earlier today I purchased a copy of the Game Music Bundle including one extra copy for a friend. This extra copy I will give away for free! So what do you have to do to get that free copy? Send me the recipe of your favorite gamer food!

Almost everyone has a special dish he or she loves to prepare for his gamer buddies. It can be an original snack, a full meal, or whatever you think appropriate. Surprise me!

You get extra points for recipes that are cheap, easy to prepare and that can feed a group of four hungry roleplayers easily. You can post your recipes in the comment section of this post until Sunday, February 19th. On Monday, February 20th,  I will pick my favorite recipe and provide the lucky winner with the link to his or her Game Music Bundle.

  1. Sounds good to me! Now to think up how to build a recipe out of what I usually make for the crew…as I usually don’t use recipes :)

  2. I like to make baked french toast. Recipe first, explanation why second. (With regards to recipe, I’m going to assume some base level cooking or reasonable-strength Google-fu.)
    RECIPE
    (1) Make a brown sugar glaze. I use 1 cup brown sugar and a stick of butter over medium heat, until consistency is mixed throughout.
    (2) Pour glaze in 9 x 13 glass casserole dish. Add walnuts if you’re crazy.
    (3) Fill with baguette bread, sliced about 1 1/2″ thick (4 cm for our non-US friends). Put bread in white side up.
    (4) Pour traditional french bread batter over top. I use about 5 eggs, 1/2 cup cream, dash of vanilla, dash of cinnamon, but you can find other recipes via Google.
    (5) Cover in aluminum foil.
    (6) Let sit overnight.
    (7)Bake for twenty minutes at 350 or until golden brown.
    EXPLANATION
    I’m a GM, so making food the day of isn’t always practical, since I’m often running around like a chicken with my head cut off getting prepped. This french toast does all the work the night before, the day after, I can just throw it in the oven while I hunt down minis or NPC write-ups. GENIUS!

    This recipe is perfect for those all day gatherings, as breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Have friends bring mimosas and fruit and coffee, and BOOM! Awesome breakfast.

  3. When I have the ingredients, I make a loaf of garlic-herb-cheddar bread. Garlic, thyme, oregano and a little paprika with sharp cheddar, baked three hours to perfection. Surprisingly mild, but flavorful, not at all as punch-you-in-the-mouth as it initially sounds.

  4. Mostly I let everyone supply their own foods, since I can’t eat the foods most people do for health reasons. Things I have made in the past include a quiche without crust, which includes 4-5 eggs, 1 cup milk (or heavy cream, or half each), 1 small-to-medium onion, 1/4 teaspoon of paprika, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, salt, and pepper. Everything must be proper chopped, blended into a large bowl, covered, and left to marry in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight before pouring into glass dishes and baking in the oven. I require a gluten-free diet, but my parents actually found they prefer the quiche without crust.

    As for treats, I like to make this rich dark-chocolate cake. I make a double recipe that includes 8 ounces of dark chocolate (60-70%), 8 ounces of unsalted butter, 1 & 1/2 cup of sucralose baking mixture (i.e., Splenda; I have problems with sugar), 5-6 large eggs, 1 cup drained and finely chopped sauerkraut, and 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. Preheat oven to 375, grease two 8-inch cake rounds and coat with parchment paper, melt chocolate and butter into mixture with double boiler, remove from heat and stir in ‘sugar’ until dissolved, whisk in eggs and sauerkraut until thoroughly incorporated, sift in cocoa powder and stir until mixed, then poor into cake rounds, spreading to fill. Place in oven for 25 minutes or so, checking with toothpick every few minutes from 25 to see if it’s done. Cool on rack, then combine both cakes with a layer of your preferred icing. (I prefer this delicious mocha whip made from ricotta, cocoa, and espresso.)

  5. Best Spaghetti Sauce in the World

    Ingredients
    3 tablespoons butter
    1 teaspoon minced garlic
    16 roma (plum) tomatoes, chopped
    1/2 cup chicken stock
    1/3 cup dry vermouth
    2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
    Directions
    In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Toss in garlic and saute 1 to 2 minutes, until slightly golden. Mix chopped tomatoes into pan. Stir in chicken stock, thinning with 1 to 2 tablespoons water if necessary. Cook over medium heat until bubbly. Stir in Vermouth and cook 5 minutes more. Mix in basil just before serving.

    Cook whatever pasta you like, spag, angel hair, penne, etc.. and add the sauce….

    The sprinkle parmesean cheese onhand would be a plus….

    Some of that garlic toast from the frozen section at the grocery doesn’t hurt to have either.

    Cheap and pretty damn awesome.

    1. Pour both bags into a bowl
    2. Stir liberally
    3. Serve
