Ratings!

0

As you may have noticed these blog uses a ratings plugin that allows readers to rate each post from 1 to 5 stars. I added this feature to give my readers another opportunity for feedback. But alas it is not used as I as hoped.

So, why should you rate the posts in the first place? To give me a hint on how you liked that post. Not everyone likes to write comments and rating a post is a simple way of expressing your thoughts. You thought that the post was just awesome, then give it five stars. And if you think it was abysmal, just vote 1 star. So it’s easier for me to see what kind of posts you liked, where I have to improve things.

I just ask you to give me some hint on where to improve my blog. And if you have some more elaborate ideas, on what I could do to make “Stargazer’s World” a more interesting place, feel free to write down your comments or contact me via the contact form on the about page. Thanks!

And by the way, there are some posts that still need some love, so check them out, while you are at it. ;)

UPDATE: The Ratings plugin didn’t want to cooperate with my new theme, so I had it shot!

WordPress 2.7

I’ve successfully updated to WordPress 2.7 this morning. The update process was even easier than I expected and it seems everything is working fine for now. Please let me know if you encounter any errors! Thanks!

Google Friend Connect

3

This morning I added a Google Friend Connect gadget to the site. I had to fiddle around with the theme a bit, but in the end it turned out pretty nice. So, what is Google Friend Connect?

Google Friend Connect allows site visitors to log into the member using an existing account (Google, Yahoo, AIM or Open ID). Then you can invite other people to join you at the site, see other visitor’s profiles and additional gadgets allow more interaction between the visitors of a site. It reminds me a bit of Yahoo’s MyBlogLog, a feature you probably have seen on some of the blogs here on the network.

Some site updates

3

I’ve made a few tweaks to the site today. From now on the permalinks to pages and posts are much prettier than before. To link to this post for example you can use http://www.stargazersworld.com/2008/11/28/some-site-updatessome-site-updates/ which is much better than http://www.stargazersworld.com/?p=post_id.

I’ve also made some changes, so that the blog’s URL is now http://www.stargazersworld.com and not http://www.stargazersworld.com/wordpress/ as before. Much better, if you ask me! :)

I also want to thank ChattyDM again for solving my SPAM problems.
