New to WR&M
  • Greetings!

I am new to WR&M and tought I could poll the peoples to know which campaign setting they are using in their game.  I plan on starting a new campaign with old friends we haven't played since a while and I'm wondering in which setting I should start it.  I would like 'em to play in a heroic fantasy setting, just like old school Blackmoor, Nehwon or Greyhawk...

My second question is:  Is there anyone who made house rule for combat to let players do attack on specific part of the body like arms, legs, vitals, head, etc...?  My players usualy like that knid of rules.

  • Probably my favorite WR&M setting I used to run was sort of a post-apocalypse fantasy game. It didn't really do anything different that warranted new rules, we were just loose with the flavor text....sometimes horses became motorcycles, magical items might have had a steampunk aesthetic to them, etc.

As far as hit location, I came up with an optional roll on the d6 but didn't come up with any specific effects. Decided it would be handled completely by GM fiat and circumstance. Think I made "Called Shots" to anywhere other than the torso a -4 penalty.

    1d6:
    (1) Legs (2-4)Torso (5) Arms (6) Head

  • Nice simple rule for the hit location, I think will go with it, I can handle de results of hit location, I just didn't really know how to handle it and at which penalty, and -4 seems a good penalty for that.
  • Instead of assigning location damage, you could add conditions or even just use a Fate pool that anyone can use against the enemy with location damage. Once the Fate is used up or the combat ends, it disappears. This would give the impression the enemy is overly hurt, giving you the Fate bonus in the attack.
  • Yeah I didn't really use any additional damage trackers, just conditional stuff. A nice chunk of damage rolled to the arm? Drop a weapon or shield. Leg blow? Cripple them, trip them, etc. I didn't make Headshots insta-kill unless the amount of damage taken was significant...most of the time it was trauma, blinding,  etc.

No reason to bring charts into this, I think common sense dictates enough.
  • Thanks for the inputs, using fate points also seems legit. As far as talents, does any of you have extended the list of it, I created a couples over the last days and I'd like to get more...
